Structural Classification and Engineering Application of API 600 Gate Valve

In practical engineering applications, API 600 gate valves are mainly divided into several forms based on the different gate structures, such as wedge-shaped single gate, elastic gate, and double gate.

The wedge-shaped single gate API 600 gate valve has the simplest structure, with a sealing surface that has a certain inclination angle. It relies on the wedging force between the gate and the valve seat to achieve tight closure, and is suitable for clean medium pipelines under normal and medium low temperature conditions. The elastic gate valve API 600 has a special annular groove in the middle of the gate plate, which enables the gate plate to have a trace amount of elastic deformation ability. Each gate plate can swing slightly around the ball center and adjust the fitting position according to the actual angle of the valve seat. It is particularly suitable for large-diameter pipelines and situations with large pressure fluctuations, effectively avoiding uneven sealing caused by pipeline stress or installation errors.

At the same time, for API 600 gate valves that have been in a semi open and semi closed state for a long time, attention should be paid to whether the sealing surface has grooves due to medium erosion, and if necessary, grinding and repair should be carried out.
